• Transmission of Ebola virus to humans is thought to originate from infected bats or primates that have become infected by bats.
• Undercooked infected bat and primate (bush) meat transmits the virus to humans.
• Human to human transmission of Ebola virus is only achieved by physical contact with a person who is acutely and gravely ill from the Ebola virus or their body fluids.
• Transmission among humans is almost exclusively among caregiver family members or health care workers tending to the very ill.
• The virus is easily killed by contact with soap, bleach, sunlight, or drying. A washing machine will kill the virus in clothing saturated with infected body fluids.
• A person can incubate the virus without symptoms for 2-21 days, the average being 5-8 days before becoming ill.
.Carriers of Ebola virus ARE NOT CONTAGIOUS until they are acutely ill.
• Only when ill does the viral load express itself first in the blood and then in other bodily fluids (to include vomit, feces, urine, breast milk, semen and sweat).
• If you are walking around you are not infectious to others.
• There are documented cases from Kikwit, DRC of an Ebola outbreak in a village that had the custom of children never touching an ill adult,
. Children living for days in small one room huts with parents who died from Ebola did not become infected.
• You cannot contact Ebola virus by handling money, buying local bread or swimming in a pool.

ANOTHER FEMALE SUICIDE BOMBER SHAKES KANO

Oh No! Not again. Another female suicide bomber targeting Polytechnic students has struck again in Kano,
Two persons were killed in the incident and at least seven others were injured, the police said.
“A female teenager blew herself up at about 2:30 p.m. and she was targeting the students of Kano State Polytechnic."
Sources said the students targeted were prospective Corps members who had earlier received text messages informing them that their postings to various states for the National Youth Service Corps [NYSC] was out.
Apart from the suicide bomber, two other students  died in the blast while seven others were injured and evacuated to a hospital.
“The area has been cordoned off and investigation has already commenced."
Wednesday’s attack brings to four the number of suicide bomb attacks in the city involving young female bombers.

ASARI DOKUBO BERATES JONATHAN'S STATEMENT ON BUHARI, SAYS NIGERIA WILL BREAK

For the leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force (NDPVF), Alhaji Mujahid‎ Asari-Dokubo, it is just a matter of time before Nigeria will break up. He said that the country will soon go the way of Soviet Union and the rest that have broken up. Asari-Dokubo is not alone in that thinking, as may just be echoing a prognostic report of US agency had projected that the Nigerian project may have crumbled by 2015.
The NDPVF leader, who spoke to journalists in Abuja, faulted President Goodluck Jonathan over his statement that Nigeria would have boiled if former Head of State and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, General Muhammadu Buhari, had died in last Wednesday's bomb blast in Kaduna.

Asari-Dokubo said the President's statement was unnecessary, adding that placing the life of one Nigerian above another is wrong.‎
He said: “I do not work for Jonathan.
“What the President said was wrong.
“The life of Buhari is not more important than 87 people that died in that blast.” Asari-Dokubo also dissed the insinuation that he paid the alleged mastermind of the blast N5 million to kill Buhari, saying that the former head of state posed no threat to him.. He said he will from next week lead a protest in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, to demand and ensure that Buhari is arrested by the Department of State Security.

He said: “I did not pay anybody to carry out any assassination attempt on Buhari.

“I do not have anything against him.
“He is not a threat. “He will fail in 2015.
“For the records, I do not operate a Twitter ‎account and anyone saying I tweeted that there will be more attacks is only using my name.”

Asari-Dokubo raised the alarm that all the calculated attacks on him are geared towards shutting him up ahead of the 2015 presidential election. He said: “They want to silence me because they know the role I will play in 2015. “They have also sponsored reports in Benin Republic that I am the person financing Boko Haram. “Another Islamic scholar also said I am the one sponsoring Boko Haram to destroy the North on behalf of President Jonathan. “The deputy leader or deputy minority in the House of Representatives said I spoke on behalf of President Jonathan.

“That means Buhari is the commander-in-chief of Boko Haram in the North.

DOZEN, VILLAGE CHIEF EXECUTED BY BOKO HARAM

Boko Haram fighters have executed 12 people including a village chief in a remote part of northeastern Nigeria, residents have said, amid warnings of anticipated attacks by the group over Sallah Celebration. The attackers entered the village of Garubula, in Biu district, late on Wednesday and dragged their victims out of their homes before shooting them, the residents said.

"They killed 12 people including the village chief whom they shot in the head," Mallam Idrissa.

The news came as an army spokesman warned that Boko Haram had "perfected plans to launch multiple bomb explosions in Maiduguri" - the biggest city in the northeastern part if the country.

As a result, authorities had declared a three-day ban on "all vehicular movement" in the city from Monday, Mohammed Dole said in a statement. Dozens of the group's gunmen raided the town of Rann in Borno state on the border with Cameroon on Friday, meeting fierce resistance, residents said.

Before retreating the group's fighters hurled explosives into the police station, setting it ablaze, and bombed a local administrative building and a government lodge, they said, adding that no casualties were recorded.

"They came into town around 6pm and made straight for the police station where they opened fire and the police responded, resulting in a shootout that lasted for one hour", then early on Saturday the attackers went to Sigal village seven kilometres away and abducted a police officer from his house, said Timothy Musa, another resident.

"We have no idea where they are holding him and we fear for his life," Musa said. Also on Wednesday, bombings in which 42 people died in north-central Kaduna were blamed on Boko Haram. The presumed targets of the attacks, a prominent imam and a former head of state, escaped with their lives.

BOKO HARAM BEHEADS NIGERIAN AIRFORCE OFFICER

A shocking, disturbing and pitiable video was yesterday afternoon posted on YouTube by Sahara Reporters which showed a Nigerian Air officer identified as Umar Abubakar being interrogated and later gruesomely murdered by Boko Haram men in Borno state. The sect men after the act then paraded with his head in a jubilant display.
The victim, who was extensively interrogated before his gruesome killing, identified himself as Umar Abubakar, disclosing that he was a member of Section 9 of the Nigerian armed forces engaged in counter-insurgency measures against Boko Haram. The insurgents displayed their victim's identity card, chanting that the world should know that Allah had given them an enemy.

 "So you were sent to kill Boko Haram? And you are serving the state instead of Allah? We are members of Jama'atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda'awati Wal-Jihad and Allah has given us an infidel today," one of the Islamist sect's leaders said in the video.

The victim pity and luck would shine on him, the captured military operative even proclaimed himself a Muslim of Jama'atu Izalal extraction, but the insurgents, who spoke Hausa mixed with Kanuri, dismissed his plea. Their leader said: "No amount of prayers will save you, we will judge you according to the Quran."

At the chants of Allahu akubar, the insurgents "did their thing". After beheading their victim, the terrorists held up his severed head in jubilation as one of them used a mobile phone to film the gory scene. The victim's headless body can be seen on the ground in a pool of blood, his hands tied with a rope.

RUN UNDERGRADUATE, BUTCHERS FATHER

A 21-year old student of the Department of History and International Relations, Redeemer University, RCCG Camp Ogun State, Tolani Ajayi picture above has been arrested by Ogun state Police Command, for gruesomely killing his father, Barrister Charles Ajayi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, on Tuesday, July 3. The suspect was, however, arrested same day in his father’s residence, the scene of the crime at about 5:30 p.m. after the discovery of the corpse by the Police preliminary findings.

{PHOTO} HUMAN RIGHT LAWYER MURDERED

Human rights lawyer and social commentator, Barrister Kunle Fadipe was on July 3rd  murdered at his residence at Harmony Estate near Karaole Estate, College Road in Ifako Ijaiye, Lagos.
According to reports, the estate where the late barrister resided was plunged into total darkness after power outage and the lawyer asked his son to go and turn on the generator. As his son made his way to the generator, a man armed with a knife accosted him and ordered him to take him to his father. As soon as the man got to Mr Fadipe, he stabbed him in the neck and back. His daughter who was at home immediately ran out of the house and called for help. Two security officials attached to the estate immediately ran there and were able to overpower the murderer.
The motive for the murder is yet to be ascertained, however the police has taken the killer into custody with a promise that the incident will be thoroughly investigated.
Late Mr Kunle Fadipe was a former member of the National Human Rights Commission and a member of the board of trustees of the justice advocacy group, Access to Justice. May his soul rest in peace…amen.
